In recent years, as the main resources in China, the mining quantity of coal mine is continually increasing and China has higher requirement for its safety production. Increasing production safety can effectively guarantee people’s life and property security, lay the foundation for reforming and opening-up, economic development and social stability, as well as accelerate economic development and social progress. As one of the six evacuation systems, staff positioning system plays an important role in aspect of increasing production safety of coal mine.For the status of underground positioning system, this paper makes improvement in positioning system mainly on ZigBee technology. It also makes introduction for the usual wireless communication technology and describes its advantages in the underground positioning system by comparison and analysis. It chooses the improved RSSI calculation method much more suitable for the complicated environment underground through comparison on its choice and this method has better effect on increasing precision of positioning system. The positioning system is divided into ground and underground, this paper makes detailed design on hardware underground and uses plan combing ZigBee wireless network and LAN to achieve the underground and ground data transmission. It chooses CC2530to undertake the establishment of wireless network, platform of software development uses ZStack. The underground system is composed of identification instrument, node of reference position and branch station of underground contact. We should consider the factors such as data transmission and operational excellence between wireless and wired when designing the branch station of underground contact, so we chooses way of combining LPC2378and CC2530. The node of reference position is distributed at the important places to collect RSSI value. The miners bring the identification instrument to transmit the underground position information and finally achieve the positioning aim by processing.The improved ZigBee positioning system has characteristics in precise positioning, easy installation and place, low cost etc, which has better social and economic benefit.
