Ecological security is a hot issue of the present research, and the land ecological security is one of theimportant ecological security studies. A accurate grasp of land ecological security status and it’s use trendscan not only make a land sustainable, and it is also an important basis for forecasting and early warning ofecological security and providing references for land-use planning and construction. Currently, due topopulation and economic growth, and the increasing land use intensity, it has led to destroy the landecological security severely. Research on land ecological security has become a frontier. But the landecological security research is still in the exploratory stage, the evaluation methods and index system andhow to determine the standard value are still the difficult issues.This paper takes Kaifeng City as study area, and based on the full research in the nature, society, andeconomy from2001to2010, constructs assessment index system of22indicators. Using entropy methodand the land ecological security model of land ecological security of the region from2001to2010, thecomprehensive value assessment and analysis, and according to the evaluation results, somecountermeasures and suggestions are put forward to promote the sustainable use of land from theperspective of ecological safety. The conclusions are as follows:(1)The current situations of nature, society and economy in Kaifeng city are deeply analyzedEcological issues in the research area are come up with. The indicator evaluation system is composed of22indicators and it is divided into three aspects: natural, economic and social sub-system.(2)2001-2010, the land ecological security of Kaifeng city shows an upward trend, the ecologicalsituation is getting better. After2005, there is a great upward and the effect is obvious. In2005, the landecological security value is0.5995. According to the ecological security evaluation criteria, it is in level II,which means it is in a risky situation. The ecological value jumps from0.5995in2001to0.7259in2010,increased by21%.In shot, the land ecological security situation in Kaifeng city improves obviously andchanges form risky level to safe level and it is in a safe status at present.(3)From2001to2010, according to the Kaifeng municipal land ecological security classification,2001,2002,2004and2005, the land ecological security are at the level of risk;2003,2006,2007land ecological security are at a sensitive stage,2008--2010, the land ecological safety is in a good condition.This shows that the Kaifeng city takes measures to improve environment.Among the different subsystems of land ecological security system in Kaifeng City, the largest impactone on the land ecological status is the land ecological security social subsystem, followed by the landecological economic system, the minimum is the natural subsystem. The land ecological security socialsystem changes is most significant mainly due to the rapid population growth, urbanization, as well as lowcity sewage treatment rate, which seriously threaten land ecological security.(4)According to the results of comprehensive analysis and sustainable use principle, suggestions areput forward from three aspects to protect land ecological security.①Natural ecological security countermeasures: Protecting arable land, raise productivity; improveannual forest area; coordination between development and protection②Economic ecological security countermeasures: Coordination between economic growth andindustrial structure; controlling "three wastes", improving the ecological environment; controlling theamount of fertilizer and pesticide, reducing land pollution.③Social ecological security countermeasures: Strengthen ecological security education; strengthen theprotection and construction of water sources, preventing water pollution; controlling population growth,alleviating the contradiction between people and land; strengthen land ecological environment impactmonitoring and evaluation management.
