Land resources are the basic conditions for human survival anddevelopment. Human society obtains development through using andreforming the land. However, with the accelerating of the economicdevelopment pace, urbanization and industrialization also developrapidly, and population scale expands year by year, and human demandgreatly increases for land. As the result the land using intensity increasesin human activity. So the land ecological environment is facingunprecedented challenges. Therefore, the research for land ecologicalsecurity becomes the world frontier topic in the study of the landsustainable use. In recent years, although the topic of land ecologicalsecurity research is increasing year by year, but the land ecologicalsecurity evaluation is in the stage of exploration and practice. Theconstruction of evaluation index system and the choice of scientificevaluation method are important and difficult in the study of landecological security.The article regards eight cities of the Midwest of Inner Mongolia asresearch area, and as the evaluation unit for the study,2011year for thebase period. The analysis is based on the present situation and existingproblems of land use and natural, social and economic conditions. Andthe evaluation index system is based on the "pressure-state-response"(P-S-R) conceptual framework model. It selected21indicators toconstruct from the three indicators layer including the land ecologicalpressure layer, land ecological status and land ecological response.Using entropy value method and extreme value method determines theindex weight and parameter values for the standardization respectively.At the same time the article determines the basic value of each indexaccording to industry standards and national standards. And then thecomprehensive index method is used to calculate land ecologicalsecurity value for all the evaluation units premising the security leveldetermined. It is concluded that land ecological security situation foreight cities of the Midwest of Inner Mongolia in2011.The result is analyzed in diversity. And the essay puts forward the countermeasuresand suggestions for improving the land ecological security. Finally itsummarizes the main problems existing in the research.The essay have the following conclusions mainly through landecological security evaluation the Midwest of Inner Mongolia in2011:(1)according to the entropy value method: just a single index speaking, theeconomic density has a greatest influence on the land ecological securitysituation for study area, its weight is0.1194.That states economic factorsplay a very important role in land ecological security. The followed isthe land reserve resources. From the overall, the land ecological status(land quality and land use structure) is biggest on the impact of landecological security condition, the weight is0.4389.This states landquality and land use structure play a key role for land ecological securitysituation that is good or bad. The followed is land ecological pressure(natural and social economic pressure).(2) The research obtains thesecond conclusion through comprehensive index analysis method:generally the land ecological security situation is the general securitylevels of the eight union cities of Midwest of Inner Mongolia in2011.And the score is higher in developed economy and land use conditionsgood union cities than in the economy is underdeveloped and land useconditions of poor areas. That is to say the former land ecologicalsecurity situation is generally higher than the latter. The land ecologicalsecurity levels of Ordos and alashan have the biggest difference with theoverall situation. Compared with other cities of the study area, the landecological security score of ordos is highest, it is0.8487. The securitylevel is relatively safe state; however, alashan land ecological securitysituation is worst in study area of eight union cities, in less safety state,the score is0.5630. The land ecological conditions need to be furtherimproved.
