Abstract:With the accelerating of urbanization process, the economic growth is high, at the same time, the consumption of resource is increasing, environmental pollution has become increasingly severe. How to achieve sustainable development of the region, and establish a resource-saving and environment-friendly society, has become a key topic of public attention. Three-dimensional ecological footprint as the latest achievements of the ecological footprint theory, extend the traditional two-dimensional model to three dimensions, and complete the classification measure of the flow of capital and the capital stock The three-dimensional ecological footprint regard the consumption of capital stock as a distinction of sustainable development, because of its refining accounting methods and rigor theory, its realistic, it is widely recognized by domestic and foreign scholarsThis study is based on three-dimensional ecological footprint model, citing the "local ecological footprint" concept. To avoid ecological deficit and ecological surplus sum, we made some additions and amendments of the model parameters to improve the ecological deficit algorithm. And establish the appropriate ecological situation for Hunan Province footprint accounts.on the basis of empirical analysis of the depth of the footprints in Hunan Province from2001to2011. And the utilization of natural capital of Hunan Province were analyzed. Combined ecological footprint related indicators of sustainable development in Hunan Province were evaluatedFrom2000to2011years, the depth of footprint has been greater than one, the stock of capital have long been occupied. Of all types of land, cultivated land, water, fossil energy land footprint depth greater than one, the other land type is in ecological surplus state. Fossil energy land footprint, has the largest depth of all land, almost all greater than2, indicating that two times the fossil energy land cannot meet the current human needs, and its footprint depth has the upward trend, in an extreme state of unsustainable development.Order to clarify the main drivers which make great impact to the depth of footprints, we use partial least squares regression analysis, the results show that the rate of urbanization, arable land, the proportion of secondary industry is the main influencing factors, the total population the total amount of social consumer goods are less important factors. Considering these drivers, and combine the social and economic development and resource utilization characteristics of Hunan, proposed recommendations regarding relieving pressure on the ecological environment in Hunan Province.
