Our country values reading atmosphere for far too long, and naturally pay much attentionto reading surroundings, the exclusive room for reading acitivities was established so early,which was called “Shuzhai”. Shuzhai is an exclusive reading room, sometimes has the activitiesof lute-playing, chess, calligraphy and paiting etc, and sometimes can meet a close friend tohave a long time talk. Study room has cultural atmosphere,it is comfortable, quiet, and elegent,and it is furnished simply, easily, and flexiblely, and is harmony with nature.Thick forest andtall bamboo outside of study room was constructed an elegant detached pleasant space,whichdemonstrated spiritual context of natural, simple and elegent, and reflected a unique aestheticdetermination and spiritual pursuit of scholar. Developed into Ming and Qing Dinasty,Mahogany furniture enjoys a high reputation both at home and abroad, and supply richfulmaterial conditions for modern mahogany study furniture.In the context of diversification of modern furniture design, Chinese traditional culturalcharacteristics of furniture design are quietly emerging. Mahogany furniture as a specialfurniture category, loaded with tradional Chinese culture, history, and profound culture,integrated practical functional, ornamental, artistic into one body. Experienced period ofquantities in the eighties and nineties last century, period of qualities ten years early in21contury, now welcome in the period of brand, Mahogany study furniture faces the problem ofhomogeneity and crude make.Based on reviewing the related papers at home and abroad, intergrating market stuation,the thesis presents the framework of research mahogany study room furniture. It was catergizedinto three sections: the first section reviews the context of mahogany study room furniture andits upstream and downstream industries, the second section studies customers’ purchasingbehavior through questionnaire survey and field survey. The third section used the method ofscene sight gathering to analyze customer demande and environment constituent. Finally,summerized into the related conclusions,the thesis present the advice and sugguesstion ofgenerating design strategy and furniture design. The specific contents and related conclusionswas summarized as blow:(1) Reviewed the related concepts and study furniture, The author defined mahoganystudy furniture,and grasp the concept of points.(2) On the perspective of historical development, this paper studied the origin of mahogany furniture. According to historical periods of its development and characteristics,which was summarized into five phases: the early form of study room, Study room of the Mingand Qing Dynasties in flourishing age, Study room of Mingling of East-West style in People ofRepublican, Office furniture after the foundation of the PR China and Modern New ChineseStudy room furniture.(3) Based on Howard-Sheth and EBK model-based, The author deduced the basic modelof urban consumer behavior and Chinese consumer buying behavior. Combined with fieldsurvey and questionnaire survey, and drew a conclusion on consumer general behavior patterns of buying study mahogany furniture.(4) From political, economic, cultural, climatic and geographical conditions, The papersummarized and analyzed the current competitive environment on mahogany studyfurniture,and draw relevant conclusions. From brand operating status, marketing strategy,design strategy, and brand image etc, the author analyzed the existing brand of mahoganystudy, and draw relevant conclusions.(5)Starting with the functional requirements of study room and furniture, on the analysis ofstatic scenes of furniture and the dynamic human behavior of mahogany study, The author drawrelevant conclusions, Further analyze the possibility of consumer market segmentation, anddefine the target market and product characteristics.(6) The analysis of consumer demand, competition investigation, study-room surrounding,which provided the relevant design response, then the author put design response into practice.
