The currently number of open-pit mines in China is huge, mining technology ispoor, work conditions and management is mess. All these together caused thefrequent accidents. The blasting production processes in the open pit mining is themost dangerous production processes, safety assessment can effectively prevent theprobability of occurrence of accidents. Therefore, it is quite necessary to carry outthe safety evaluation of the blasting production safety in the open pit mining.On the basis of a careful investigation is carried out on open-pit mine blastingproduction-related process, then apply the analytic hierarchy process method andsafety check list method, some studies and attempts is also done on the quantitativesafety evaluation methods of open-pit mine blasting, and proposed an improvedsafety checklist method on the basis of the studies and attempts. The conclusionsobtained are as follows:(1) Analysis the blasting production processes in the open pit mine, and divideit into several levels from top to bottom to find out the basic factors that may affectthe blasting safety in the open pit mine. Finally build a blasting safety evaluationsystem of the open-pit mine.(2) This evaluation is based on the principles of evaluation factors weightdetermination, when determining the weight value of the factors of the blastingsafety system in open pit mine. Analytic hierarchy process is used to determine theweight of each element, The safety checklist method and analytical hierarchyprocess method is combined effectively to compensate for the problem that in thescoring the whole safety level cannot be reflected and the lack of focus when onlyusing safety check list method, making the evaluation results more guidance andpractical significance, and provide a new way for the quantitative evaluation inopen-pit mine blasting safety.(3) This paper uses a certain open-pit mine as an application example; make thecomparison between each basic element according to the blasting safety assessmentsystem. The9level comparison method is used to build some matrix to compute theweight, then fed the weight values into the improved safety check list method infurther to obtain the security level. By improving the safety check list method, achieved the quantitative blasting safety evaluation of the open pit mine, improvedthe accuracy of the evaluation, it can provide strong support for open-pit mineblasting safety management.
