Products of roadheader customize development and production for orders ofcustomer. And development cycle of these products has a great impact on the market.Following the continuous development of market and enterprise,unceasing richproduct kinds and the explosion of growth in several parts,development efficiencyand cost of products are ushered in a great challenge. This requires the developmentof a new method to replace the traditional development model which faces a singleproduct. This paper is taken roadheader as a carrier, based on Pro/E design softwareand the PDM platform, building upon Top-Down and modular design theory as theguiding ideology, exploring the method of fast development which can makeproducts of the roadheader become the platformization.Thesis first introduces the sources and research background of the subject, andalso introduces the roadheader research and modular+Top-Down design presentsituation. Against the modular+Top-Down design method of the thesis contents,discusses the concept and the benefits of modular and Top-Down design, theory ofmodule division method is defined in full, and module division method is compared,and determined using AHP method for module division. Secondly, according to themodular design approach the modular+Top-Down design method is studied, theroadheader of spectrum are analyzed and planned. Detailed study of the modulardesign of the roadheader, and do the module division and module creation, the resultsof module division is given. Based on PDM system and Top-Down design method,how to implement cooperative design is detailed analyzed. The relations betweenmodule and interface, skeleton and its effect in cooperative design are analyzed anddiscussed. Finally, based on the Top-Down design technology, the overall and cuttingmodule of roadheader is parametric modeling respectively. For example with thedepartment of cutting, define parameters,the location skeleton and the designskeleton’s build are detailed discussed, the physical models of the cutting departmentis given, eventually the whole modular design results of the roadheader is given, andthen the different modules call and the module extensions are completed. Moduletemplate deformation test has been done and has been successfully applied to carryout other new products design, ultimately improved the design efficiency and to meetthe customer’s individual requirements.
