The safety of people’s life and asssets are related to the safeenvironment of communities. It’s very important for the building harmonysociety to assess the risk people may face in communities. As communitiesgather a large amount of people, it’s very necessary to assess risks ofcommunities. Based on previous study, this paper assesses risks ofcommunities by integrating the factors which cause todisasters, vulnerability of environment, and the defense capability ofresidents. Two methods are used to assess the risks of communitydisasters. The first one is linear integration. That is to say disastercausing factors are firstly integrated with vulnerability of environment. Then the results are integrated with the defense capability of residents. The final results are ranked as5levels. The second method to assesscommunity risks are the fuzzy-entropy weight method which buildsevaluation sets and evaluation matrix and evaluation the weights offactors. At last, the paper discusses the adaption of the two methodsmainly from varieties of data, the regulation of community and thecharacter of disaster risks. We get the following conclusion: It’s notwise to assess the risk of communities which consists of people who havevarious backgroundby using linear integration. It’s not wise to assessthe risk of communities which consists of people who have variousbackground and have illegal buildings by using the fuzzy-entropy weightmethod.
