Pressure vessel is integrated product which is involved in many kinds of industries andthe multidisciplinary, the welding structure is very typical, and the welding quality is directlyrelated to the quality of the container, and the welding process is the key of containermanufacturing. The design of pressure vessel process doesn t only depend on the relevantstandards, but also needs the knowledge and practical experience of professional and technicalstaff. The design of welding structure and process has important significance to the design ofpressure vessel production.Countries have strict and detailed rules for the relevant parameters of pressure vesselwelding process. This topic was based on AutoCAD, using secondary developing technology,according to the requirement of the user input parameters, using the SQL (Structured QueryLanguage) Language of VBA program, connecting with the Microsoft Access database of thewelding knowledge base used to retrieve the related parameters for the users to choose, havingcompleted the design of the pressure vessel welding CAPP system. The system was dividedinto the same material system and different material system. The system mainly included theknowledge base module, welded joint module, process design module, learning functionmodule and the system control module, which made the system reflect the welded structuresand process of pressure vessel more comprehensively.In the knowledge base module of the system, the parameters of carbon steel, stainlesssteel, heat-resistant steel, aluminum and its alloys, copper and its alloys, nickel and its alloysteel and the dissimilar steel were added in it, the base mainly included the parent metal,welding material, welding method, welding current, welding voltage and the related weldingparameters. Designing the welded structures of pressure vessel was the function of the weldingjoint module, according to the suitable joint form what users selected and the joint parameterswhat users entered, forming the welded joint that reflected the layer number. Process designmodule was the main part of the welding design, system provided parameters throughreasoning for the users to choose by the basic information of the users inputted. Systemcontrol module was the foundation, which supported the running of the whole system. Thesystem also had the study function, it was easy to expand the knowledge, the search functionand query functions were convenient and practical, which achieved the design purpose of the pressure vessel welding CAPP system and made the system more intelligent.The interface of pressure vessel welding CAPP system was very friendly, using theman-machine combination way to run the system, the operation was convenient, simple andpractical. The system combined the SQL language with database integration by VBAprocedure, which realized the function of the system. The design of the system not onlyimproved the efficiency of data management and analysis, and effectively designed thewelding process, but also improved the efficiency that the technical personnel designedpressure vessel, and the CAD secondary development method also had very good referencesignificance to the other areas.
