With the growing of the economy and improving of people’s living, Chinese urbanization process is accelerating and floor space of buildings completed is increasing rapidly. Due to the improvement of the indoor environment and building services, and increase of building energy-using equipment, energy consumption and carbon dioxide emissions of buildings in China continuously increase year by year. The current is the critical juncture of promoting the construction energy saving and emissions reducing. The systemic estimation and identification of drivers of carbon dioxide emissions of buildings are good for government to promote building energy conservation and pollution reduction work, and put out relevant policy measures. This article focuses on carbon dioxide emissions of buildings in China, which systematically simulates and analyzes situation of carbon dioxide emissions of buildings. Meanwhile the drivers and the nature scenario of carbon dioxide emissions of buildings performing stage under the different climatic conditions have been studied in this article, then how the elevant technical measures and policies affect the reduction of carbon dioxide emission of buildings is discussed. The main contents of this article are as follows:(1) The carbon dioxide emissions of buildings in China is calculated based on life cycle assessment, which is divided into four parts, namely building materials production, construction, building operation and demolition.(2) The STIRPAT (stochastic impacts by regression on population, affluence, and technology) model is used to analyze the drivers of carbon dioxide emissions of buildings, which selects five factors namely per capita floor space of residential buildings, floor space of buildings, household consumption level, output value of tertiary industry and unit building area of carbon dioxide emissions. According to the climatic conditions, the buildings of four climate regions are taken into account, which are Severe Cold, Cold, Hot Summer Cold Winter and Hot Summer Warm Winter respectively. Five factors are quantified through ridge regression.(3) Scenario analysis is adopted to forecast carbon dioxide emissions of buildings in China under different climate regions by2020. Three critical factors, population, per capita floor space of building and unit building area of carbon dioxide emissions, are considerd. To analyze the influnence of the technical measures and related policies have on the future of China’s building carbon dioxide emissions, the unit building area of carbon dioxide emissions is decomposed into per capita building carbon dioxide emissions and comparable carbon dioxide emissions of building.
