The investing casting has many advantages, such as high accuracy, good surfacefinish, can be cast in the shape of complex parts, and also the advantages is almost notaffected by alloy typeconstraints. The investting casting is widely used in aviation, generalhardware and othercomplex shape, not easy to machining parts. Because of investmentcasting has complex shape. In the post mold,the die head and the castings has manycomlex shape. Thus withdrewing the casting fom the die mold is very tedious. Not onlythat, because there is no dust removal system, a lot of dust produced in the process ofcutting the spread in the workshop.If things go on like this, it is a great threat to the healthof operators. Therefore, the need is very urgent for a casting can replace humancuttingmachine, to realize the automatic casting sprue cutting, and guarantee the safety ofoperations.In this context, the research group received a requirment of a Baoding casting factory.we develop a casting cutting machine together. The castings in this factory is various. Thecutting machine in this design is for a group of the largest volume of castings. In order tomeet the use requirements, as far as possible to expand the scope of use, to achieve themost casting group gate cutting automation. Achieving the technical requirements of safeoperation, improve efficiency, and prevent dust hazards.After the actual mapping in the plant and cutting test, combined with what we knowof the domestic and foreign research present situation, we designed an automatic cuttingmachine using a thin grinding wheel, there are currently two generation cutting machine:type I and type Ⅱ. Cutting machine in this paper is typeⅡ,based on the first generation ofcutting machine.The cutting machine includes a mechanical system and control system,the mechanical system includes cutting system, the workpiece collecting bracketmechanism, protective shell and dedusting system. The control system is simple, is astepper motor feed drive system.The design of mechanical system use the the idea of virtual prototype and physicalprototype combination.All the mechanical system design and Simulation of virtualprototype in the3D simulation software SolidWorks platform. The structure design ofsome key components in the mechanical system of cutting machine are analyzed andstudied, including the design and calculation of the motor drive part,the design and analysis of concave grinding wheel and cutting spindle, table feed system design andcalculation. And the difficulties encountered in the cutting is analyzed, because the gatewidth is only10mm~15mm, grinding wheel feed cutting can directly aim at the gate affectthe quality of the casting.Therefore, this paper analyzed synthetically about whether thegrinding wheel can aim at the gate. The preparatory work provides necessary theoreticalevidence for the manufacturing of physical prototype. The final physical prototype andcutting test, the experimental data show that all technical indexes meet the technicalrequirements. This machine can protect the safety of the operation, improves the cuttingefficiency, realizes the automatic gate cutting.
