The special equipment has caused more and more serious accidentequipment because of large-scale, complex development, economic losses and social influence. The traditional examination method is often carried out by "seeing,hearing, touching" and other test methods, there are insufficient test phenomenon, and more than one set of production equipment80%risk from less than20%of the equipment. In a units system, the key unit contribute about20%risk nearly80%of the whole system. Therefore, the traditional examination method has’t been able to effectively reduce the probability of accidents. On the other hand, the special equipment unit between the increasingly fierce competition, the profit rate is greatly reduced, the continuous running time prolonging equipment and reduce equipment repaircosts has become the focus of attention of the factory. Out of the two aspects of security and economic pursuit, forcing the special equipment productionunit for the development of safer, more cost-effective equipment inspectionand maintenance of the new inspection method.Risk based inspection (RBI) is a new inspection technology method has thespecial equipment industry. It is a systematic method to use equipment failure risk as the optimization and management of equipment inspection foundation isa method to optimize the inspection plan based on the pursuit of special equipment for unification of safety and economy.This paper carried out around the required elements of risk based inspectionare analyzed, firstly, the RBI test is to find out the failure mode of equipment, combined with the specific test case, the corrosion cracking, environment, material degradation, mechanical damage and other damage mode is the main failure mode, and the damage mechanism, influence factors, damage mode and equipment are summarized, and combined with the actual case study and analysis of theintergranular corrosion, stress corrosion, hydrogen harm failure mode.Secondly, the NDT are analyzed basis on failure mode, combined with online testing and runout inspection characteristics, analysing the effectiveness of different damage mode testing method for nondestructive, combined with the specific cases of analysis; thirdly, analysing of the test strategy to formulate the basic content,principle; analyzing the traditional methods and RBI test inposition, the requirements will work of pressure vessel. Fourth, through the hydrogenation reactor of hydrocracking unit in the pilot study, the RBI method to make the failure mode and test method of hydrogenation reactor, and the risk inspection and analysis, it is proved by practice, the implementation of RBI can significantly reduce thepressure test special equipment risk level, guarantee the safe operation of equipment. In a word, through the author’s research, the failure mode of the special pressure equipment, providing the theoretical basis for pressure vessel design and the traditional risk inspection method inspection plan; lay the foundation for the effective use of NDT, to provide direction inspection and the successful implementation strategies of RBI, the special equipment inspection process to pave the way, truly realize the "scientific inspection" in essence to ensure the safety operation ofspecial equipment, at the same time by reducing operation and maintenancecosts, so that enterprises remarkable economic benefits and social benefitsobtained from.
