Polyamide, commonly known as Nylon, it is the umbrella term of the polymercontaining amide groups repeated in main chain. It holds the first place in output, operatingvarieties, and wide application among the five common engineering plastics. The synthesis ofthe polyamide is a milestone in development of the polymer chemistry. Due to the lowvolatility, sulfonamide compounds is suit for processing at the same time have excellentperformance at high temperature, with better hydrophilic than amide groups, therefore, tointroduce both sulfonamide and amide group into the main train to obtainpoly(amide-sulfonamide)s(PASAs) with superior performances. Since1970s, people havealways paid attention to the development of the PASAs, the application of it to thepervaporation field has got a satisfactory result. From the standpoint of molecular design, synthesis of new type monomer was onecommon methodology for synthesizing a polymer with certain performance and function. Onemethod of preparation of novel PASAs is developing new diacylchloride monomer anddiamine. In this paper, three mew wholly aromatic PASAs were prepared through the solutionpolymerization method reacted by the new diacylchloride monomer which simultaneouslycontains both acylchloride group and the sulfonyl chloride group prepared by our researchgroup with three different aromatic diamine. The main work was carried out as follows:1) Three kinds of wholly aromatic poly(amide-sulfonamide)s were synthesized bylow-temperature solution polycondensation of m-chlorosulfonylbenzoyl chlorides with threedifferent aromatic diamines, and the intrinsic viscosities were measured.2) The micromorphology and structure of the PASAs were characterized by SEM, FT-IR,XRD and other methods. The results showed that the three polymer all have porous structure, espesially well-developed in the polymer3, and the three polymers were all amorphous.3) Static adsorption characteristics of2,4-dinitro phenol by the three kinds of whollyaromatic PASAs were investigated, at the temperature and the concentration ranges studied inthis paper, three polymers all can absorb the2,4dinitro phenol at different levels, theadsorption data of the three kinds of polymers could be well described by Freundlichisotherms equation. The adsorption kinetics of2,4-dinitro phenol onto the three polymers were mainly studied and the kinetic data were fitted to the Lagergren first-order equation, thepseudo second-order equation, and the intra-particle diffusion model, the result showed thatexperimental data for the adsorption systems were fitted well to both pseudo first-orderequation and the intra-particle diffusion model.4) The film-forming performance and the ability to absorb Cr(Ⅵ) of the three polymerswere tentative explored, the results showed that the PASAs have wide prospect to be used asmembrane and heavy metal adsorption material.
