Continuous casting production process is the key process in the modern iron and steel production process. For the aim of the continuity of continuous casting in the steelmaking production process, continuous casting operation should optimize those setpoint values of continuous caster’s pulling velocity and cooling water flowrates to maiximze the capacity of continous caster under the constraint of quality.At present, operators of continuous caster set the values of pulling velocity and cooling water flowrates by inquiring the veolcity-water tables which come from operation experiences and data fitting technologies. The operation mode can not provide the optimal operation value. Using the optimial technologies, continuous casting operation optimization provide the optimal velocity and cooling water flowrates with the given optimzization objectives to meet the technological and resource constraints. According to those optimzal setpoint values, the continuous casting schedule plan and the secondary cooling process control will work harmoniously to make continuous caster in optimal work condition.Continuous casting process is a solidification process with movement boundary. The solidification process can be described by nonlinear heat transfer partial differential equation and onflow partial differential equation. There are so many uncertainty factores such as temperature and ingredient of molten steel that the practice production process presents strong uncertainty and dynamic property. Therefore it is difficult to optimize continuous casting operation mode by schedule optimization or process control system.Firstly, this paper analyzes and describes the production process and continuous caster production mode, then formulate the single furnace casting’s operation optimization model, including continuous casting operation index models, constraints models and the decision variables. On the basis of the methods of normalize and weighting the operation index, the continuity of numeric constraint processing by conservation mass and the discrete equation of the solidification heat transfer, this paper designs a algorithom under GA framwork to solve the operation optimization model. Secondly, using Microsoft.net and gPROMS, this paper designs and develops the continuous casting operation optimization algorithm experimental software. The software can not only solve the continuous casting operation optimization model and validate the optimial solution, but also simulate the process of continuous casting solidification heat transfer under various experimental schemes. The software serves as experimental software platform to researchers, who study the process of continuous casting solidification heat transfer and the methods of continuous casting operation optimization.Finally, this thesis performance the software function test and solidification difference model validation. Then based on the actual data of a factory, this thesis designs some experiments on continuous caster single furnace operation optimization method. Compared with the result of the method of operator regulation, the presented method can provide the resonable velocity and water flowrates which make slab temperature distribution more closed to technological temperature values. The experimental results show that the presented method has the advantage in setpoint values optimization than the method of operator regulation.
