At present, China is launching a new round overall planning for the land use. Through the implementation of land use planning, we can adjust the land use method, structure and layout of regional land use, thus changing the original state of regional land resources, and affecting the landscape, water, soil, air, climate, geology and other environment aspects directly or indirectly, positively or negatively. In order to provide guidelines and references for building a healthy, civilized and harmonious land use pattern in the new round of county-level revision for the land use overall planning process, this paper chooses Zaoyang County of Hubei Province as a research object, studying the assessment guidelines, system and methods of environment impact in land use status at county level. This paper includes six parts. The first two parts present the contents, significance, purpose, technical guidelines, literature review and theoretical basis of environment impact assessment in land use status. Analysis of environment aspects affected by the changes of land use is presented in the third part. The fourth part introduces the regional summary, land use status, and ecological environment overview of Zaoyang, as well as analyzes the major environmental problems in the land use of Zaoyang. The fifth part is the empirical study part. With the actual situation in Zaoyang County, the landscape, water, soil, and air environment have been selected for assessment of environmental impact in the land use status of Zaoyang, and appropriate land use measures are proposed as well. Then, according to the assessment results of the four environment aspects, we use the overlay method to do a comprehensive assessment of environment impact in land use status by MapGis, and appropriate land use measure proposals are also put forward. At last, we conclude this paper in the sixth part.Major results of this paper are presented as follows:(1) Major work of land use planning is adjusting the structure and layout of construction land, agricultural land, and ecological land. Construction land usually has a negative impact on the environment; agricultural land can have a positive impact or a negative impact on the environment; while ecological land usually has a positive impact on the environment.(2) The environment aspects affected by land use method and layout can be divided into landscape, water, soil, air, geology, climate and other environment aspects. We can choose some appropriate aspects to evaluate the environment impact in land use status according to the actual situation of study areas.(3) Major environmental problems in land use of Zaoyang are as follows:gradual increase of water pollution, serious pollution of soil resources caused by "waste", larger area of soil erosion as well as widespread sloping farmland, and frequent occurrence of droughts and floods.(4) With the land use status and environmental quality of Zaoyang, this paper proposes an appropriate assessment model for environment impact in land use status of Zaoyang. And landscape, water, soil, and air environment aspects have been selected to evaluate the environment impact in land use status of Zaoyang.(5) Through the environmental impact assessment in land use status, we partition the sensitive areas of Zaoyang into five areas:extremely sensitive area, severe sensitive area, moderate sensitive area, light sensitive area and slight sensitive area. We use GIS technology to make the figures of sensitive areas for four environment aspects and comprehensive impacts. Finally, corresponding land use measures are proposed according to the results of sensitive areas. Regions with higher sensitivity are not suitable for construction use. According to the actual situation of the region, low sensitive regions can be used as ecological land, agricultural land and construction land.
