Knowledge management, as the management thought and method in the new economy times of information and network, has become an increasingly important issue in society and enterprises. Meanwhile, the value of knowledge is gradually boasting as a major source of wealth in the 21st century organization. With the ever-changing technological and economic structure in recent years, the knowledge innovation based on knowledge management becomes the key to the healthy and sustainable development of international technology and economy. The thesis aims at studying the key points of knowledge innovation and issues related to knowledge innovation efficiency within the research scope of R&D of large-scale military products, which are the reprehensive of high-tech products. Moreover, further discussions on the input, result and effect of R&D of large-scale military products will be contained via discrimination in key elements and calculation in efficiency of knowledge innovation.The thesis reviews the evolutionary processes and key contents of the R&D of military production at home and aboard. After the systematic analysis, the large-scale military product has been defined as "products that usually need to be researched and developed through the cooperation of multiple organizations with complex technology composition, huge investment, custom design and can be modularized according to project organization and be categorized into the single-piece and small-batch production type in general ". In the thesis, the knowledge resource for R&D of military products is affluent which can be considered as a "Double-edged Sword" on management and shall be reasonably controlled and effectively applied in the way of knowledge innovation management. The analysis on related elements and efficiency of the knowledge innovation is the key point for knowledge innovation researches related to the large-scale military production.In the thesis, the relevant elements of knowledge innovation in R&D of large-scale military products could be divided into the earlier-stage relevant element and the later-stage relevant element. The earlier relevant element consists of human element, fund element and fixed asset element, among which the input of human element shall focus on aggressiveness of participants, and fund element shall adjust the proportioning of time and ratio between enterprise and government, while fixed asset element shall focus on the management of equipments and the input to high-end equipments. The main earlier-stage relevant element of knowledge innovation shall change along with different independent innovation capacity in various industries. The industry with higher independent innovation capacity shall rely more on the effect of investment quality followed by fixed assert input and human input. The main beneficiary of later-stage relevant element is exactly the country and industry. It shall increase a series of indexes including profits and sales revenue through improving the national and industrial core competence.Overall analysis on the lag time between earlier-stage and later-stage relevant elements of knowledge innovation shall be carried out, especially in the knowledge innovation for R&D of large-scale military products. Besides, the lag time for knowledge innovation shall also be considered in the analysis of knowledge innovation efficiency, which shall play a role of guidance for national R&D practice of military products. In the thesis, the patent application number is deemed as the quantification index for knowledge innovation in R&D of large-scale military products, making a foundation for empirical research.The earlier-stage and later-stage relevant elements as well as knowledge innovation efficiency in spacecraft manufacturing industry have been calculated respectively with methods such as grey correlation analysis, grey clustering, grey forecast analysis and data envelopment analysis (DEA), etc. Comparative analysis has also been conducted on the important index that will affect the knowledge innovation in the industry, key achievement of knowledge innovation, step between input and output (time lag) and year difference of knowledge innovation efficiency. As a result, a sound understanding on the advantage and disadvantage of earlier-stage and later-stage relevant element of knowledge innovation, action time of element, redundancy of element input and knowledge innovation efficiency in spacecraft manufacturing industry of the near future has been obtained, to provide the controlling, planning and decision basis for R&D of spacecraft manufacture.In the last part of this thesis, measures on improving knowledge innovation in R&D of large-scale military products in China have been proposed from six perspectives. These measures include cultivating knowledge workers, realizing virtuous circle of fund operating mode, strengthening effective management on fixed assets, persevering in independent innovation, setting up management principle of "differential solutions and flexible strategies" and establishing knowledge-based innovation organizations.
