The Study Of Correlation Between The Host-country's Innovation Capability And FDI Technology Spillover Effects

With the development of economic globalization, technology diffusion and transfer have become the main method of improving technology and economy, meanwhile, FDI has been a key trend because it can bring a lot of opportunities to developing countries. FDI technology spillover is able to help domestic enterprise upgrade the technology level through the new products and advanced technology, what's more, it can also elevate the domestic enterprise's management because of the demonstration. Owing to the advanced technology and excellent talent, high-tech industry has more obvious FDI technology spillover effects than other industries. However, the effect is restricted by some factors. The host-country's market structure and competitive environment, absorptive capacity and the technology openness of TNC may have influence on the FDI technology spillover effects of high-tech industry. Therefore, the study of FDI technology spillover effects based on the host-country's technological innovation capability is significant. The thesis chooses the direction of technological innovation capability to prove the correlation between FDI technology spillover effects and it, and then obtains some suggestions and measures.Toward the background and purpose mentioned above, based on the summary of current research at home and abroad, this thesis chooses the direction of technological innovation capability to go ahead. At first, from the theory analysis, it discusses the technology spillover effects of FDI, the technological innovation capability and the relation between them. Then the next part is the empirical analysis on the correlation between the technology innovation capability of high-tech industry and FDI technology spillover effects combined with the analysis on the current situation of foreign investment, technology innovation and FDI technology spillover. Finally, the thesis proposes some policies and measures in order to improve FDI technology spillover effects through the increasing of the technological innovation capability in high-tech industry. According to the empirical analysis, the thesis draws the following conclusions: from 1999 to 2008, FDI technology spillover effects are correlated to our high-tech industry's technology innovation capability positively. That is to say:we could increase our absorptive capability through the technology innovation capability's improving so that to improve the FDI technology spillover effects. Consequently, it is necessary to upgrade the technical self-sufficiency rate; add more R&D fees and improve investment structure; increase technology innovation consciousness;make the innovation mechanism and environment better; strengthen the international cooperation. All the measures mentioned above could help to elevate our technology innovation in order that FDI technology spillover effects can also be increased. The best innovation in the thesis is the new research perspective, it hopes that the new angle could help to improve the FDI technology spillover effects in high-tech industry in a new direction.
