| With the progress of human civilization, our need for resources is increasing day by day, however, the Earth's resources are limited and decreasing. We have to face the question of finding a solution to the challenge. Since China's reform and opening to outside world, international political and economic situation has been undergoing significant change. Under the new international political and economic situation, the progress of contracting business of Chinese contractors is seen rapid and strong in international market. More and more competent and capable domestic construction companies are marching to overseas market. For an individual company, it is contracting more and more international projects. It further intensively analyzes the problem existing between international projects and their home company in term of new coordinated management:excessive power and interest but relatively less responsibility of project managers due to unreasonable assigned duty, right and interest, which results in view difference between project managers and high-ups of home company and in turn disagreement of project management with corporate development strategy; illogical organization pattern of international projects, presence of advantage and disadvantage of each of 3 patterns with strong matrix pattern most popular in construction companies currently among the three, however, the matrix pattern gives rise to multi-level leadership and lack of overall coordination; the lack of computer assisted collaboration platform:the capability of information management in majority of construction companies is far behind the required for development. Having not correctly understood information management connotation and meaning, these companies come to standstill at conventional level in terms of information management organization, method and manner. Even a few companies have established information management system but applied only part of its operation. The questions, among others, how to coordinate and manage those projects, how to maintain the relationship between projects and different functioning offices of home company and how to fully utilize the limited corporate resources for targeted interest, require us to carry out research on the coordination mechanism between international projects and a domestic construction company.In the article, the author generally summarizes three principles of the coordination subject:coordinated effect, dominating effect and self-organizing effect. The article analyzes the determinant of coordinate effect. It concludes that good coordination among subsystems ensures good integration of entire system and provides the coordinate effect of 1+1>2, on the contrary, bad coordination results in disrupted management and gives chance to negative effect of 1+1<2. The article points out a few main organization patterns, and meanwhile, it also analyzes the advantages and disadvantages of each pattern and its applicable case, discovers 3 levels of business and their relationship:corporate level, project level and execution level, the relation of service and compliance and the relation of supervision and execution between corporate level and project level, the coordinate relation between a legal representative and an appointed project manager and finally the coordinate relation between international projects and their home company.Based on the above analysis, analysis of different dimensions of coordinate function module, pattern module and computer technology support module indicates that the reasonable combination of the same three modules helps to establish a projects and home company coordinated model. Taking the example of SSJ Company, the model enables us to identify the relationship between projects and home company, thus promotes coordination between the two by formulating corporate rules and regulations to define project manager's duty, right and interest. Modifying the matrix pattern by adding a project management office coordinates relationship among projects, projects and functioning office of home company, hence the limited resources are utilized into business to its maximum extent. A computer supported management platform should also be established for the same purpose. These and other measures will in the end achieve two coordinate targets:a team work between international projects and different functioning offices of home company and the same corporate strategic objective between international projects and the construction company. |
