In the era of knowledge economy, human capital, being different from material capital, is affecting the every phase of production and operation in the enterprises and plays an increasingly important role. As the role of market allocation of human resources more effectively, general human capital plays the utility to a certain degree and its action also get the attention of people, but the universal human capital mobility and reproductive makes it one of the possibility of competitive advantage; As a special kind of human capital and from the enterprise's accumulated experience, enterprise specific human capital is designed to support the production and the persistence of investment and accumulation. With strong background dependence and path dependence, it is dedicated to specific business knowledge and skills which can bring sustainable benefits to its owner. It is difficult for competitors to imitate and become the main source of heterogeneity. Therefore, I believe it is very necessary that research the relationship between firm specific human capital and the competitiveness of enterprises and let companies to recognize the business importance of specific human capital.This dissertation tries to prove that the effects on competence of enterprise specific human capital are positive and affirmative through the mechanism research and the empirical study to enhance enterprises'confidence of enhancing the enterprise specific human capital investments. The dissertation establishes the theory system of competence from the position of combining the methods of economics and management. In addition, in the empirical study part, the dissertation removed the difference between the industry the first time, and researched the relationship between enterprise specific human capital and the competitiveness of enterprises with different sectors. This have greater significance and this is a new attempt concerning the relation of enterprise specific human capital and competence.The first part is the introduction, which lists classical and modern articles on this subject and explains the content and the frame of this dissertation and the possible research innovation. The second part is a summary of literature which overviewed the theories of human capital and specific human capital and the competitiveness of enterprises.The third is the main part of this dissertation, analyzed enterprise specific human capital in the promotion of enterprise competitiveness through the three aspects, and summed up virtuous circle mechanism between the specific human capital and enterprise competitiveness.The fourth part is the empirical study part. First, on the basis of theoretical analysis, this paper puts forward three hypotheses about enterprise specific human capital promoting enterprise competitiveness. Then based on the Shanghai and Shenzhen listed company of data collecting, collating, analysis, and this paper verifies the hypothesis.The fifth chapter is summarized, and points out the study conclusion and some deficiencies, and further thinking on how to improve enterprise specific human capital.Through analysis, we believe that enterprise specific human capital in general played a huge role in the improvement of enterprises competitiveness, but individual sectors do not show their significant role. This does not affect the value of this study. The study results will help enterprises better understand the business role of specific human capital theory, and further increase the confidence of business investment on specific human capital. The study results enhance the competitiveness of enterprises to a greater extent.
