| This paper is discussing about the application of Tacit Knowledge in Organizations from the postmodern perspective. Michael Polanyi, British philosopher and physical chemist, proposed the Tacit Knowledge(Tacit Knowledge, known as the tacit unders-tanding)for the first time in the《Personal Knowledge》.He supposes that Tacit Knowledge is silent and tacit, which can only be understood by insight and can't be explained in words;it comes from individuals'perceptions and understandings of the outside world. But Nelson (1977) and Spender (1993) think that the organization Tacit Knowledge means those existing within individuals and enterprise employees at all levels in the organization, which are neither coded nor explicit,and are difficult to be standardized and to be explained in words; also they are impossible to be imitated, communicated, and shared;meanwhile, they are tough to be copied or to be stolen;they also include the tacit knowledge obtained through the flow and share from the extern-al effective ways.Tacit knowledge exists in the enterprise. Scholars think explicit knowledge in orgazations only account for 10%, while other 90%are all tacit knowledge (SuXinNing 2004). In view of the above characteristics, tacit knowledge becomes more and more important in the eyes of enterprises.How to successfully apply the Tacit Knowledge in Organizations has already become the core competitive edge and the trump to success for an enterprise.Over the past 10 years, the research about application of tacit knowledge has grad-ually grabbed extensive attention from the circles of theory and business.Although there are a lot of achievements, obvious limitations still exist, such as:First,in the present studies, most researches about the application of Tacit Knowled-ge are conducted in libraries,universities and government, but there are less about e-nterprises; Second,the theoretical study and practical application still run adrift. At present, most reserch papers on the applications of tacit knowledge still stays in the phase of description, but there are less reserch papers that can really put the applications of tacit knowledge into practice; and what's more, the achievements of the applications of tacit knowledge that combines the genuine examples of enterprises are scarce.Third,at present high-quality results of the organization's tacit knowledge of the application from the post-modern perspective are rare. With the influx of post-modern management thought, the world has entered the era of knowledge economy. The nature of post-modern management is knowledge management. Access to knowledge and use of knowledge is a fundamental way for a business to maintain a competitive advantage, especially the highly personal application of tacit knowledge rooted in the organization and employees, will be a key factor in the competitiveness of enterprises. But now I have not found any research papers on the of the application of tacit knowledge from a post-modern perspectiveBased on this, this research sets to delve into the application of Tacit Knowledge in Organizations from a post-modern perspective, with grounded theory method and business examples. This article is divided into four parts:Chapter I, introduction. This part presents the main issues and describes theoretical meanings and practical values, while presenting innovation points, research methods and research framework that this reseech may bring.Chapter II, relevant theoretical literature review. The concept of tacit knowledge in organizations is defined and applications of organizational knowledge and tacit know-ledge in organizations, post-modern knowledge view, post-modern management and post-modern knowledge management are reviewed in this part.Chapter III, conduct grounded theory research with the example of Da Shi Qiao Kinglong Group. First, the profile of Kinglong Group and organizational structure are introduced, and then an outline design of the interview and the interview summary are presented. Interviews are conducted relative analysis with open coding, spindle coding and selective coding, through whichthe fundamental catagory, central catagory and the story line of the article appears finally. This part is the focal point of the article.Chapter IV, conclusions and recommendations. The writer draws the final research conclusion, proposes some recommendations and expounds the progress and limitaio-ns the research has gained.Through grounded theory analysis of interviews, the study gains 5 reserach conclu-sions as follows:Conclusion 1:the application of tacit knowledge in organizations is employees' legalization of tacit knowledge; Conclusion 2:the application of tacit knowledge in organizations improves employees rights of speech; Conclusion 3:The application of tacit knowledge in organizations is affected by employees' little narative in the long-term run; Conclusion 4:the application of tacit knowledge in organizations reflects organizations' humanistic management towards employees; Conclusion 5:the application of employees' tacit knowledge realizes the self-management of employee-s.As an exploratory research paper, although this paper is fairly scientific and nor-mal, there are limitations on the research samples selection, interviews and other asp-ects due to the limited author's research capability and research funds. The author will futher conduct researchs on it in the future. |
