Research On Livable City Competitiveness Model

Regional economic theory suggests that city plays a central role in the regional economic development. As the city playing more and more important role in the economic and social development, the Chinese and foreign scholars focus on the subject of city Competitiveness after 1990s. With the global advent of post-industrial progressive, urban development is faced with resource depletion, environmental degradation and a series of new problems. Thus, the concept of livable city become a new subject by the scholars. By far, however, the concept of livable city competitiveness has not been clearly defined. There have not yet formed a consistent answer on how to build the livable city competitiveness evaluation model and evaluation system. Therefore, this research has important theoretical and practical significance.In this paper, firstly, proposed the concept of livable city. It should be come with the comprehensive development of city's economic, social harmony, cultural prosperity, good living conditions and ecological environment. Secondly, proposed competitive model of a livable city. Then, design a city competitiveness evaluation system, including a set of 55 indicators of the livable. And the use the questionnaire survey method removed some indicators which are less than 0.5 degree. Thirdly, use the model to make empirical analysis on twenty samples cities in China. Then make principal component analysis and cluster analysis of the cities. At last, analyze on all aspects of competitive performance of Hangzhou and indicate its comparative advantage. Give policy recommendations on the way of improving Hangzhou's livable competitiveness.The innovation of this paper is that it clearly defined the concept of livable city competitiveness. And it designs the model of livable city competitiveness from the improvement model of city competitiveness. After the literature review, expert interviews and empirical research, find a city competitiveness evaluation system which are measurable and comprehensive. To deal with this subject, the researchers used a combination of qualitative and quantitative way. Making questionnaire survey and then use principal component analysis removed the main factors, and then made competitive analysis evaluation.
