Study On The Peking General Chamber Of Commerce, 1906-1928

The Peking general chamber of commerce was founded in 1916, because of the effect of the demand of the government, the power of the commerce and the change of the old organization of the commerce.From 1916 to 1928, the development of the general chamber of commerce is that the increase of the members, and the standardization of the rules of the general chamber of commerce. The organization of the general chamber of commerce includes the inner organization and the outer system. To inner organization, it is consist of the trade chamber of commerce, trade unions, and new enterprises; to outer system, it is the increase of the accessorial institutions, and it forms the vertical organization, that is, the general chamber of commerceâ†'the branch of the chamber of commerceâ†'the office of the chamber of commerce.Although the chief function of the general chamber of commerce is as follows, such as investigation of the commerce, maintenance of the commerce, compromising the dispute and so on, we do not underestimate the effect of the general chamber of commerce. In economic aspect, it is important for the general chamber of commerce to protect the market, compromise the economic dispute and perfect the economic laws; in political aspect, the general chamber of commerce not only support the government, but also oppose it sometimes, depend on interest; in social aspect, the general chamber of commerce usually takes charities, builds commercial school and keeps the local peace.
