On The Development Of The New-style Transportation Of Jiangxi And The Changes Of Society Economy In The Modern Times

It's convenient to go anywhere from the Tang and Song dynasty in Jiangxi. In the late of 19th century, the means of transportation have had new developments with the appearance of new-style transportation. Steamer routes have been opened to all the principle rivers in the province. Nanchang-Jiujiang railroad and Zhejiang-Jiangxi railroad held together the northern Jiangxi, eastern Jiangxi and western Jiangxi. In the 1930's, a network of roads has been basically completed within Jiangxi province.The development of new-style transportation have had an important effect on the society economy changes in the modern times: Firstly, the appearance of new-style transportation brought Jiangxi and the periphery provinces closer together in time and space. As a result, the economy interaction between Jiangxi and the periphery provinces has been strengthened greatly, and a new pattern of diversified development appeared. Secondly, its appearance promoted the changes of modern transportation industry, agriculture and industry and mining, benefited from which the modern transportation industry expanded ceaselessly, great changes were presented in the agriculture pattern of farming and rural society economy in rural area along the new-style transportation. At the same time, the industry and mining also made certain progress because of the improvement of transportation conditions. Thirdly, the development of new-style transportation promoted the course of town changes. Some traditional cities began to transform to modern cities, and some new towns grew up along the new-style transportation line, while some towns on the traditional transportation line became feeble gradually.So the author believes that the development of new-style transportation of Jiangxi in the modern times have played an important role in the promotion of society economy transition from tradition to modern in Jiangxi. However, as far as the conditions of that time were concerned, the development of new-style transportation of Jiangxi has been restrained by many limiting factors, which affected its bigger role in the society economy growth of Jiangxi.
