Modernization is one of the most important subjects in modern china. The urban is the master and main beneficiaries of modernization,that's why the modernization is to some extent the urbanization and the modernization of urbans.The relationship between the natural environment and urban development is the entry point of this thesis. There are four types of modern cities in modern Jiangxi according to the principle of functions and attributes ,Nanchang,Jingdezhen,Pingxiang and Jiujiang representing typically ,which are the objects of this study. This thesis analyzes and demonstrates the path and extent of the modernization of different styles urbans in modern Jiangxi ,which based on the Modernization Theory, including economic -restructuring,social-change,urban-construction, synthetically using the theories and methods of history,economics,geography and urban-science, and also using the measurement-analysis method,compare-analysis method and facts-prove method . In the end, this thesis analyzes the factors which have impacte on the modernization of Jiangxi in the aspects of natural-environment,social - environment,economic-momentum and social-force according to the Modernization-theory of Gilbert Rozman, for the purpose of finding the ways of modernization in contemporary Jiangxi.
