Facility Layout And Location Assignment Study

As China's economic development, logistics have received more and more attention. For each company, they need adjust supply chain strategy and optimize all aspects of internal logistics their based on the actual situation. Storage plays a key role in reducing costs and improving customers'satisfaction. Automated storage has been used widely, but many enterprises are still using the traditional shelves due to the mater of costs. How to arrange storage location of products for these companies to enhance the utilization of cargo space is necessary.S is a domestic company which is in its rapid development. One of its warehouse stores three main types of cranes, heavy machineries and port machinery of some parts. The facility is not designed well due to a short-term planning. And the layout is not easy for staffs to find goods and sorting operation. For better use of the warehouse, they hope to make a more reasonable planning. The main work includes the following aspects:1. Use time series to predict the following two years based on six years of historical sales data.2. Use SLP to improve the warehouse layout by analyzing the existing process.3. Propose the corresponding principles of cargo space location and use GA to solve the problem.This paper hopes to help companies which have the same problem on storage arrangements.
