Research On Assessment In Supply Chain With A Core Manufacturing Enterprise

Nowadays the corporate business strategies tend to develop an intensive networkrelationship on designing and operating its supply chain. Although the networkrelationship has the advantages of resource sharing, resource complementarities,transaction costs reduction, and focusing on core competency, it may inevitablyencounter the risks and uncertainty accompanied by the supply chain network.However, by far it still lacks a systematic investigation on the sources, categories, andimpacts of uncertainty of a supply chain; in particular, a specific type of supply chainrisk is still relatively little research. The purpose of current study is to explore therisks of supply chain with a core manufacturing enterprise, and define these risks andtheir categories. Besides, the method and the tool of risk analysis are proposed tomeasure the value in risk. Finally, an integrated assessment framework of risks ofsupply chain with a core manufacturing enterprise is developed.The study referred to the related literature and the viewpoints of experts so as toobjectively develop the framework of risks in supply chain with a core manufacturingenterprise and their sources. A two-step survey was conducted to the leaders ordecision-makers from planning and development department; R & D department;finance management department and capital operations department in A steelcompanies, which can be used to collect the data concerning the sources and theirimportance of various risks. A fuzzy analytic hierarchical process (FAHP) is adoptedto calculate the weights of given risks representing their seriousness. The studyproposed a framework including the category of risks, the items of risks, and theirweights. A risk matrix is displayed, where the value at risk were obtained bymultiplying the possibility of risk and its seriousness score. The findings of this studycan serve as a reference tool for the companies to assess their risks of supply chainwith a core manufacturing enterprise and help the supply chain managers make thedecisions on risks management.There is still much room for the improvement on the characteristics of supplychain with a core manufacturing enterprise, the description of basic theory andsystematic research, and expect to get further guidance from teachers, experts andscholars.
