The Statistical Analysis Of County Economic Growth Inequality In Henan Province

Uneven regional development is an inevitable problem in the process of economic development in any country and region, it is related to the sustained and healthy development of regional economy and social stability, and its essence is the coordination between fairness and efficiency in economic growth. The coordination of urban-rural development and regional development has become a focus of central and local governments of concern. With the rise of globalization and the deepening of market reform, studies on the inequality of regional development have renewed again from the late 1980s, the methodology and theory of economics and geography gained new development, especially human capital, geospatial and other factors have been emphasized again in the economic growth research, new convergence theory has been criticized just like the classical theory of convergence due to the lack of space and time perspective, and which lead to new discussions on regional development. After reform and opening up, China has carried out economic reform and opening-up, regional development pattern has been undergoing tremendous change. the pace of economic growth has been increasingly accelerating in coastal areas, Economic status of the traditional old industrial bases has been challenged by coastal provinces, regional development gap between coastal and inland areas has been widening constantly. In this context, with the influence of institutional transition, globalization and marketlization, what characteristics does the temporal and spatial evolution of regional development differences of Henan Province have , especial as a central inland province , and what factors affect regional development differences become the core concern of my study.Based on existing literature, in this thesis, firstly sort out the theoretical foundation and current research status , mainly discuss the mechanism of endogenous growth theory and the agglomerative economy theory in economic growth and regional development, based on which I analyze the temporal and spatial characteristics of county economic growth differences in Henan Province by calculating the inequality index of County per capita GDP and spatial visualization, and also discuss the GDP per capita"nich"index of different counties in Henan Province and its development stage character in thirty years ;Then I uncover the nature of spatial autocorrelation spatial differentiation of the County Economic growth by exploratory spatial data analysis (ESDA) and analyzed the factors of regional development differences in Henan Province by geographically weighted regression (GWR).The background, features and factors of regional development in Henan Province has been specially discussed, so as to further revealed the inherent mechanism of County Economic growth. Some conclusions of this thesis are as follow:Globalization and market reform have greatly impact on regional economic development inHenan, Social and economic development has made great progress after 1978 , especially county economy, market potentials have been fully released, local comparative advantages have got fully exerted , but the absolute differences and the relative differences in county economic growth of Henan are large due to Historical basis, and many other reasons.The rate of relative development in different regions of Henan Province were significantly different , the highest relative development rate county is 8.82 times of the minimum one, more than 60% of the county units whose relative development rate value is below 1.0, the geographical distribution of high-value areas and low-value areas are relatively concentrated。Most counties reside in the middle stage of industrialization; some of the counties still stay in the preparation phase of industrialization. From the composition Character of regional differences, we can found that regional differences in Henan Province mainly the differences between urban and rural areas, especially the urban-rural differences among municipal districts, counties and county-level city are the largest and its'change trend fluctuate; the inequality between counties showed a slow upward trend, which constitutes the main body of overall inequalities. The economic growth inequality between the four major economic areas and inter-municipal districts is relatively small, and changes very slow. County economic development in Henan Province shows a positive correlation in space, self-related degree increase constantly,the spatial agglomeration trend is growing in areas of similar economic development level.Factors which affect Regional economic development of Henan province shows spatially non-stationary, the GWR model has a higher degree of model fitting than the least squares regression model, and can explain the county economic growth difference in Henan Province in 2008 by71.56%. Industrial structure, traffic location and resource endowment have the most significantly influence on the County unit economic development of Henan.
