In the 21st century, protect the ecological environment and sustainable development, It is the theme of the human, "Green building" is the concept of sustainable development into the construction sector. China's construction industry is facing high energy consumption and pollution, development of green building is imminent. The paper first analyzes the concept and characteristic of green building, then studies on cost and benefit of the green buildings on the basis of theories of life-cycle costing and project evaluation to develop a framework for economic analysis of buildings, energy efficiency improvement, which will provide a theoretical basis for the economic benefit evaluation of green buildings. The paper derives series of formulas on economic benefit estimate for energy saving and water saving of green buildings. The demonstration project of the fourth phase of Wanke in Shenzhen city is studied as an case. Based on the calculation of increment cost and economic benefit, the case study makes an economic benefit evaluation on the demonstration project which proves that energy saving improvement of green buildings can obtain good economic benefits while it has high investment, long payback period and low rate of return. The research achievements provide more scientific theoretical basis for complete analysis on energy saving improvement of green buildings and for our government to make relative policies on it.
