FMCG industry is foundation of people's livelihood. Short production cycle and fast consumption rate make its profit quite limited. Nowadays, most FMCG enterprises are engaged in reducing manufacturing and operating cost, as well as shortening product distribution cycle. As the core technology of Internet of Things, RFID can timely trace the product information and effectively control the process, bringing FMCG supply chain management transformational impact. This thesis is about the impact of RFID, the core technology of IoT, on process performance in FMCG supply chain. Based on complementary theory and IT value theory, an analytical framework is proposed to analyze the automational effect, informational effect and transformational effect brought by Auto-ID technology to supply chain, constructing the theoretical foundation and operational approach from the practical perspective. Complementarities and contextual factors are recognized, which will affect the IT value largely. Moreover, after reading abundant academies, trading publications and consulting reports, this thesis learns how enterprises conduct their own RIFD application, and quantifies three effects with quantitative models. This thesis creatively applies analytical framework in academic perspective to analyze the impact of RFID application in practical perspective, then quantifies the three effects brought by RFID mentioned above, making up the limitation of the study approach. The conclusions can be served as reference with which FMCG enterprises can obtain better process performance from RFID.
