China National Paper-Industry Investment Corp. (referred to as "CNPIC" in the following) is a wholly owned subsidiary of China Chengtong Group, which has invested in metals, chemicals, finance, electronics, logistics services, real estate and other industries.CNPIC has entered the paper industry since 2005. After a series of mergers and acquisitions, CNPIC has made significant development in the area of wrapping paper, specialty paper, fine paper, and also accumulated some competitive advantages of policy,brand, financing platform. But CNPIC has also encountered some problems in the process of rapid development, such as poor control of upstream resources, too concentrated market, a relatively small scale of enterprises, talent shortage and so on.Facing increasingly fierce market competition, CNPIC should consider the future development on the strategic level in order to win the competition and gain the core competitiveness.This paper has analyzed external and internal conditions based on the theories of competitive strategy and industry chain, using a variety of analysis methods and tools. Based on the analysis of environment and the development trends of domestic and international paper industry, this paper presents the company's strategic positioning and competitive ideas, and competitive strategy of the industrial chain integration, product differentiation, technological innovation and multi-brand marketing is also proposed. Finally, this paper presents some appropriate measures to support the successful implementation of strategy.This research will help CNPIC compete in the market and gain competitive advantage and further provide assistance for CNPIC to become a leader of the paper industry. At the same time, the study will also be helpful and have some reference.to other enterprises in paper industry.Figure 22, Table 10, Reference 34.
