With the development of tourism industry worldwide, there follows inevitable increase in impacts of economic, environmental and social influences. International attention is being given to quantifying these impacts. The perceptions and attitudes of residents in tourist cities, an important interested party of tourism development, are the key to success for tourist cities. This paper chooses Sinan country in Guizhou province as subject, because of its comparatively complete tourism forms, fast development, obvious influence and concentration of minority groups. Through questionnaires handed out to more than 1000 residents in Sinan county, information as the general perception of economic, environmental, social influence caused by tourism, and the overall attitudes towards tourism and their involvement in tourism is acquired. Based on this, this paper uses SPSS software and adopts statistic methods as comparison of means to find out the influences caused by social factors like ethnic groups and ages on the perception, attitude, and involvement of residents there. Through cluster analysis and GIS software, the difference of perceptions among different towns in Sinan country is obtained. The major conclusions are as follows:(1) Citizens at large in Sinan country hold a positive view toward economic influence caused by tourism development; they can fully perceive both the positive and negative social influence; they have positive view toward environmental influence caused by tourism. (2) In general, local people in Sinan country advocate the development of tourism but they are not satisfied with the status quo. (3) Local people generally are willing to involve in tourism development, but as to the way of involvement, they prefer starting their own tourist reception businesses to being hired by tourism companies or scenic spots. (4) The residents do not involve in tourism as much as they should do and they lack conditions except for enough time to get involved. (5) Generally, the social factors are the main factors influencing the perception of tourism influence. Comparatively speaking,"whether received any training"has low degree of influence on residents'perception. Other factors like"tourism provided more job opportunities","tourism enhanced reputation","tourism intensified cohesion of society","tourism improved residents'abilities and qualities","tourism caused limited entertainment facilities"and the perception of environmental influence have nothing to do with this. Besides, income and proximity to scenic spots have no obvious influence on some perception. (6) As for the major influence led by tourism, residents have clear differences over spaces.Based on the aforementioned conclusions, to mitigate and eliminate residents'negative perception toward tourism development, this paper focuses on the general perceptions of tourism from residents in Sinan county, combines the actual situation of tourism development there, uses various positive factors and puts forward corresponding propositions and looks further into the limitations and the follow-up research.
