The number of different kinds of parks increases with the development of tourism in our country, but heritage-type scenic areas still occupy great position in tourism scenic areas in China. Due to different examination,construction and management sectors, duplicate designation of heritage-type scenic areas becomes increasingly normal phenomenon, which causes the problems such as management system setback, destruction of scenic spots on account of tourism development and becomes a new bottleneck of our country's scenic area work. The Wudalianchi Scenic and Historic Interest Area is a National Geopark, National scenic area as well as a National nature reserve, the management system of which is representative in those heritage-type scenic areas in China.Based on the domestic and international study porgress in theory and practice, this paper tries to make a research on management of heritage-type scenic areas, using Integrated Marketing Communication theory, Community Co-Management theory and sustainable development theory as its theoretical bases. With a comprehensive analysis of Wudalianchi's current development situation under duplicate designation, its causes as well as the effects, in the light of those existing problems and considering the management experiences of foreign country national parks, the thesis then draws up the strategies and conceives the ideal management system of duplicate designated heritage-type scenic areas.This paper is composed of six chapters. The first chapter is a preface, which discusses the background, domestic and international study progress, the objective and significance of studying, the research framework as well as some related definitions. Chapter two briefly expounds the theoretical bases, including system theory, Integrated Marketing Communication theory, Community Co-Management theory, stakeholder theory and sustainable development theory, etc. In the third chapter, the author analyzes the status quo of Wudalianchi under duplicate designation, its causes as well as the effects. Chapter four mainly makes an introduction of the management system of American national parks and European Geoparks, and tries to achieve suited experiences in the management of those heritage-type scenic areas in our country. Chapter five outlines the countermeasures of optimizing the management system of Wudalianchi Scenic and Historic Interest Area. In the last chapter, the author makes a conclusion of this thesis, points out some limitations and shotages of the study, and then prospects for further research.
