Study On Urban Tourism Competitiveness Development Based On Niche Theory

June 10,2009, The Coastal development of Jiangsu province was been formally ranked as a national strategy by State Council executive, high quality development of coastal district not any greatly enhance the overall competitiveness of the coastal cities, but also will promote a higher level joint development of Jiangsu. Decenmber,2009, the State Council promulgated the《Views on accelerating the development of tourism》, it's said that tourism should be developed as a strategic pillar industry of national economy and modem service industry which people more satisfied with. Urban Tourism Competitiveness is one of the important components of City's comprehensive competitiveness, also a performance of urban tourism development. Study on the analysis and research of urban tourism competitiveness can benefit to make clear the tourism resources, learn the past situation and reflection, guide the tourism development in the future correctly, thereby promote the competitiveness of urban tourism and enhance the city's comprehensive strength.At present, the research about urban tourism competitiveness most focused on factors of urban tourism competitiveness, structure, model, evaluation system of the tourism competitiveness, inter-city comparison, space and promotion of urban tourism competitiveness, evaluation and promotion of tourism competitiveness are hot spot issues, but a little few about continuous research on urban tourism competitiveness. Dynamics of tourism competitiveness is sustained through perennial data to performance regional tourism development, and it's beneficial for comparison, feedback to make adjustment of tourism development.This article is based on niche thory, with tourism, geography, symbiosis theory, theory of sustainable tourism development, with reference of model of Poter and lain Begg to establish model of urban tourism competitiveness and evaluation system, which is applied to Nantong, Yancheng, Lianyungang city. From tourism resources, tourism market, socio-economic development, environment and the city's comprehensive competitiveness to analyze quantitatively and compare dynamically, also analyze and compare niche overlap from tourism resources, tourism market, socio-economic development, environment separately, make the output visualized and quantitative.The results show that overall growth, periodic fluctuations of the tourism development about the three cities. Because of the advantageous geographical location, close to Shanghai and southern Jiangsu, Nantong possess a high starting point, base, good foundation, Yancheng and Lianyuangang city are behind of Nantong in most aspects, especially Yancheng, embarrassed location, out of the first batch of open coastal cities, made it become a shadow of the other two cities. The dynamics of tourism competitiveness show that Nantong tourism competitiveness still keep the first palce, however, compare to Yancheng and Lianyungang, the gap is narrowing. Rapid development of Yancheng and Lianyungang will close to Nantong gradually.According to the results, we propose measures to enhance tourism competitiveness of three cities, pattern of regional tourism about the overall tourism development for the region, promotion of competitiveness, which is competition and cooperation for regional tourism development. From the niche isolation, expansion, generalization and specialization and some security measures, including some non-governmental organizations, tourism funds, tourism characters and environment measures.
