The Challenges And Achievement Of "ASEA Strategies"for GuangDong

In recent years, the bilateral trade between Guangdong province and ASEAN is increasing rapidly and the average annual growth-rate is up to 21%. Guangdong province shares about one third of the total trade amount between China and ASEAN. To deepen the economic cooperation between Guangdong province and ASEAN as well as promote the sound and rapid development of Guangdong's economy, a delegation led by Wangyang, the Secretary of Guangdong Provincial Party Committee visited ASEAN in 2008. And the delegation offered to establish a stable and long-term cooperation dialogue mechanism with ASEAN; the Party Committee and Government of Guangdong province ascents the economic and trade cooperation between Guangdong and ASEAN to an unprecedented strategic height. The research in this filed is rare so it is necessary to study the economic and trade cooperation between Guangdong and ASEAN from the perspective of "Guangdong's ASEAN Strategy". This paper begins from the delegation's visit to ASEAN, then it analyzes the formation of "Guangdong's ASEAN Strategy"; and basing on this, the paper emphatically studies the background of the strategy's formation. Except the above, the paper also introduces the achievements and points out the challenges of the strategy. At the end, it outlines some measures to improve the strategy.
