Research On Supply Chain Problems In Foreign-funded Medical Business Company A Under The Background Of Medical Reform

Supply chain management is a hot topic which is researched and discussed in academic circle and business circle in recent years. To efficiently carry out modern logistics and supply chain management is one of important means of companies for reducing costs, improving customer satisfaction and keeping market competition. In the field of medicine circulation, compared with developed countries, there commonly exist small company sizes, high circulation cost and laggard utilization of information technology in domestic medicine business companies. Supply chain management has become an important problem which limits the development and competitive power of company.Foreign-funded Medical Business Company A (hereinafter referred as Company A) is the first Sino-foreign joint venture medicine distribution company in Chinese medicine circulation trade. When it enters Chinese medicine market in 2005, Company A designs and establishes a semi-auto logistics center with a moderate size and prepares an information system which is suitable for its size to support the operation of supply chain management, as a result of which it attracts many foreign-funded medicine factories to have business with it. Its competitive advantage is obvious. However, with the generalization of domestic logistics technology and supply chain management, especially when other domestic companies in the same trade make great investment one after another to improve the level of supply chain modernization, Company A has gradually lost its original advantages. The supply chain has some problems, which leads to the stagnancy of its business. A series of new medical reform policies like "Opinions on Deepening Reforms of Medicine and Health System" issued by Chinese central government in March of 2009 give government regulation and policy guidance to the development of medicine circulation trade. New medical reform policies require continuous channel integration, continuous supply chain improvement, and circulation cost reduction. The issue of those policies is not only a challenge but also an opportunity for Company A. Company A needs a proper way to solve problems in the supply chain, optimize, improve and upgrade the supply chain.The article discusses the problems of Company A and causes in the background of the new medical reform policy in terms of its management status of supply chain.
