Nowadays, the impact of financial crisis has not subsided. Global economic growth has slowed down. The structure of the world needs has changed. Global steel enterprises are in the increasingly fierce competition for market, resources, talents and technology. Chinese steel enterprises still face a serious challenge. In this complex environment, if Chinese steel enterprises want to achieve better development, the key is that whether a scientific and rational strategic planning can be developed, so as to fully foresee the change of environment, take advantage of opportunities and avoid risk.Based on the above-mentioned background, this paper takes Wuhan Iron and Steel (Group) Corporation as the research object. According to the strategic management, economics, corporate governance, company merger and reorganization and other classic theory, after the respective analyses of the macro environment and steel industry competition with the PEST model and five competitive forces model, it concludes that there are the following main opportunities: the world steel capacity multinational transfer, macro-economic regulation and control policy, steel and iron industry adjustment policy, China's accession to the WTO, regional economic development, Japan earthquake. The main threats include economic globalization, market competition, the production elements prices rise, environmental protection, trade protectionism. Then, based on the analysis of the internal factors of WISCO, it concludes that the main strengths of WISCO include organizational structure, the production and business operation ability, product structure and quality, research and development, brand and marketing, human resources. The main weaknesses are management system, geographical location, product processing, global vision and brand internationalization. Finally, this paper analyzed the main internal and external environment factors fully according to the SWOT analysis method and based on the strategic vision of WISCO, the enterprise mission and "12ยท5" development goals for WISCO, it puts forward the strategic suggestions, including the integration strategy, multiple business strategy and innovation strategy. Hope this paper has a certain reference meaning for the development of WISCO or the same type of enterprises.
