Research On Transformational Development Of Shanxi Coal Industry

Shanxi is one of the most important coal bases and coal chemical industry bases in China, and its history of coal mining is very long. Since 1950s, Shanxi has been established as the country's major coal production base. Since reform and opening, along with changes in national energy policy, earth-shaking changes have taken place in Shanxi's coal industry. As a leading industry, the coal industry of the province to provide tax accounted for more than half of the available financial resources, sales revenue accounted for more than half of GDP in Shanxi Province. The coal industry makes a significant contribution to the regional development. As a pillar industry, Shanxi Coal Industry affects mechanical, chemical, steel, electricity, heat, and other industries. Shanxi coal industry is the truly first leading industries.Following the core concept of national economic development,Shanxi's coal industry tends to be a low carbon recycling economy industry. It has made significant progress in integration of coal resources, and economic restructuring is the focus of regional development of Shanxi Province. Extending the industrial chain and developing circular economy will be the main strategy of coal industry development in the future. Shanxi Province was established as the national "resource-based economy, comprehensive reform experimental zone" in December 2010. The first thing that the government will do is to restructure the coal industry. Shanxi's coal resources are decreasing day by day and suffering from the impact of other new energy bases. We should also attach great importance to the competitiveness in coal industry as promoting the restructuring. The upcoming issue is of theoretical and practical significance. According to regional characters and industry features, feasible path and measures should be proposed to upgrade the industry competitiveness. The main focus is to effectively switch the resources advantage to industry advantage and to update regional transformation.This paper consists of six parts. The first part is an introduction. This part introduces the research background, purpose and meaning, content, ideas and methods; research priorities, challenges and potential of the innovation. The second part relates to theoretical research. This part aims at the basic definition and features for competitiveness, industry competitiveness, the competitiveness of the coal industry, especially for the analysis frameworks of industrial competitiveness, such as Porter's diamond model, coal Industrial Competitiveness of SCEC model and industrial competitiveness of China Diamond model. According to the results of theoretical research, we finally get the Shanxi coal industry competitive analysis framework. The third part deals with factors of competitiveness of the coal industry in Shanxi Province. According to the second part of the analytical framework, the article analyzes a full range of factors about the competitiveness of the coal industry in Shanxi Province. The fourth part discusses the role of the status of the coal industry in Shanxi Province.
