Research On Relationship Of Provincial Tourism Development And Economic Growth

To strengthen our in-depth study of the economic impact of tourism,deeply understand the relationship between tourism and economic growth among provinces in china, and correctly assess the economic impact of tourism for provinces From China's national conditions, are of great significance For China's tourism development and economic growth.Limited by data or technical constraints, there are many limitations on the contents and methods of research on most of domestic study, which contain the insufficient overall grasp of the macro and the lack of accurate measurement of relationship between tourism and economic growth for particular province in China. In addition, the relationships of spatial correlation among regions are neglected factors for long-term studies. Based on the research of influence mechanism of tourism development on regional , this paper explores the different role of tourism development for different provinces'economic growth, and then use the heterogeneous panel cointegration technique and spatial econometric method to test and verify the conclusions.Based on heterogeneous panel cointegration, the econometric analysis of tourism development and economic growth in provinces shows that, Except for inbound tourism which is no significant role in promoting the economic growth in Ningxia province in the long run, the four indexes of tourism development have a significant positive effect on the economic growth of all provinces across the country,the development of tourism significantly contributed to economic growth around; Both domestic tourism and inbound tourism significantly contributed to economic growth in various provinces, however the elasticity of inbound tourism to economic growth is higher than domestic tourism, indicating inbound tourism has a more significant role in promoting economic growth; In the long run,there is an unidirectional causality from economic growth to receiving tourist arrivals, international tourism (foreign exchange) revenue and domestic tourism revenue,the economic growth promoted the inbound tourism and domestic tourism.The spatial econometric analysis for panel data of 31 provinces shows that, there is a significant correlationon economic growth among adjacent provinces, the neighboring provinces has obvious similarities and clustering effect on economic growth; One province's economic growth is not only affected by its own level of tourism development, but also by the level of tourism development and economic growth of neighboring regions; There exists spatial fixed-effects between adjacent provinces,and an obvious spillover of effects of tourism development on economic growth for the neighboring provinces; Tourism development, especially the inbound tourism has a positive role in promoting economic growth, but this role presents mainly on the overall structural shockof of adjacent regions.Finally, according to the research results, relative policy suggestions are provided for the benign development of regional tourism and economic growth.
