How to control inventory largely affects one company's efficiency and as well as its competition, as neither zero inventory nor over inventory is good enough. It is one of MEMS semiconductor companies, who are focusing on both design and mass production. It has also kept a rapid growth as well as its high gross margin of product. But nevertheless, high inventory level seems always a big problem required to be well solved, especially in WIP respect. Therefore, this thesis will be studying WIP control based on the internal condition of this company.Before making a study on WIP control, including its definition, goal, method, management, and so on, this thesis makes a presentation for background of the company. Afterward, it figures out that high WIP level was caused mostly by two problems, one is the bottle-neck-kind process (Etching) at Cleaning Room and another is too many process stations at Testing Room, this however was only based on one type of product. This thesis takes the theory of TOC and One-piece Flow making production cycle time shortened to achieve the goal of getting WIP controlled.Such solution is proved working by practice, and is valuable for other manufacturing peers.
