China has overtaken the United States in 2010 as the biggest manufacturing nation in the world, with more than thirty years of rapid development since reform and opening up. However, the overall level of Chinese manufacturing industry is not high, and there are still many industries which are in low end of international value chain, with no advantage during international competation. Chinese manufacturing are confronted with more and more problems such as cost increasing, profit decreasing, order felling and so on. Lean production, which is considered the best organization system and method in present field, is being used by more and more companies to solve various problems during management.The machinery manufacturing industry especially large machinery manufacturing industry belongs to typical discrete manufacturing, with main characteristics of focusing more on disperse and assembly than flow. And from the production mode side it mainly adopts the way of making to order with multi varieties and small batch. One piece flow has been universally implemented in flow-line production with remarkable result, instead of being applied in large machinery industry.Above all, this paper makes systematical study of achieving movable one piece flow of RS production in A company by using lean theory. And the study starts from many problems of RS production which happen under the traditional assembly way of fixing and small batch, according to the product process characteristics of RS.The paper firstly introduces the related theories of Lean production, one piece flow, indurtrial engineering and so on, and then makes the analysis of current status of RS production under the theory instruction. Furthermore, the paper brings forward the lean improvement proposal of movable one piece flow assembly line with feasibility analysis. The detailed parts and implementation of the proposal are then deeply illustrated. Secondly, the paper demonstrates the advantage and feasibility of one piece flow by comparing the result before and after of the proposal. The last but not the least, the paper establishs one practical and effective system of RS one piece flow in line with its own unique characteristics, and make continuous improvement according to the problems during operation.The study in the paper provides a feasible method for A company to shorten production cycle time, improve productivity, make process transparent and standardized. It is considerd by the management from many large machinery companies that one piece flow is not applicable for them, the author believes that the paper will be referential for these companies who want to implement lean activities.
