The Research On Risk Management For Foshan Telecom Video Surveillance Project

In recent years, China Telecom starts to get involved in the operations of video surveillance projects as it changes its operation strategies. As video surveillance projects are specific compared to the original telecommunication projects conducted by the company, many aspects involved and the relationship among them are quite complicated. It becomes a serious problem that has to be researched carefully to conduct effective and efficient risk management on video surveillance projects during the company's transformation.We minutely analyze and discuss the complete procedure of project risk management in the current video surveillance project operated in Foshan Telecom in this thesis. The thesis is presented in four parts. First we illustrate the background knowledge of the research topic, present the objective of the research, and define the basic research ideas of the thesis based on the literature review of the related theories and existing risk management research. Secondly, we introduce the implementation of the video surveillance project and describe the existing risk issues in the project in details. Thirdly, we analyze the risks in the four phases of the project's lifecycle with risk identification and risk assessment in risk management theories. At last, we propose the methods to address the risk factors in each phase. Through the implementation of risk management in the current video surveillance project in Foshan Telecom, we have established a set of methods for risk assessment and an assessment index system, which will enhance the capabilities of risk management and prevention of video surveillance projects during the transition of China Telecom. Meanwhile, we demonstrate how to establish lifecycle risk management systems in the future video surveillance projects in China Telecom by this example.
