With the development of society and tourism, our western hotel industry has entered into a stage which grows rapidly and developes by leaps. People are paying close attention to the problem of hotels'competition. What is the statu of star hotels in west of China. What is the degree of competition among star hotels of western provinces, autonomous regions and municipality. What is the position of makert competitive power of among star hotels of western provinces, autonomous regions and municipality. How can they improve the power of competition. It is worth to study these problems. The paper starts form these and study these. The research about hotel competitive power mainly lays stress on core competence and economical hotels at home and abroad. The paper chooses the researching method integrating qualitative analysis and quantitative analysis, static analysis and dynamic analysis, comparative analysis, and combing standard research and empirical research to demonstrate these problems.Firstly, on the basis of the summary of research at home and abroad, the paper defines related concepts and introduces correlation theory of study on star hotels'maket competition, which lays the foundation for the paper.Secondly, the paper makes a clear description for star hotels in west with figures and tables and apply the SWOT method to make qualitative analysis.Thirdly, the paper selects some indicators of market resource which is closely related to star hotels'development. It applies formula of niche width and niche overlap to evaluate the competitive degree of market resource among star hotels of western provinces, autonomous regions and municipality.Then it determines the weight of all indicators with TOPSIS method based on entropy weight and calculate their competition.Finally, the paper gives various kinds of strategies of market competition for western star hotels to improve competition among star hotels of western provinces, autonomous regions and municipality in west. These strategies include how to expand and dislocate based on niche. At the same time, they include optimized and auxiliary strategies.
