Case Study On Factors That Influence The Informationization Of Manufacturing Enterprises

With rapid development of the information technology nowadays, informationization becomes a factor that influences enterprise's performance and even a country's strength. Whether the information system could be used properly depends on many factors which could be from the enterprise itself and from the environment. For the moment, there are lots of research that aims at revealing the factors that influence the information system's performance, and have already got some conclusion. However, since the environment in our country is different from the western ones, the informationization of the manufacture industry in our country has its own character. Therefore, the existing theory about the factors influence the informationization is not fully applicable in our country. This article has studied on the character of the manufacture industry of our country as well as tried to find out the factors that influence the informationization of the enterprise. We hope that this article could be helpful to the informationization of the manufacture industry in our country.First, this article gives a sum up of the research on the factors that influence the information system of the manufacture industry that already exists. Then, based on these research, we studied five manufacture industries in Harbin. We used case study method to do the research. Since the data was complex, we used qualitative research software called ATLAS.TI to study the result of the interview. At last, we got the factors that influence the informationization of the manufacture industry in our country. We divided the informationization into two stages. The first stage we call it the initialization stage. In this stage, the enterprise has not got an information system. We worked on finding which factors will make the enterprise decide to introduce information system as well as how these factors influence the initialization of informationization. The second stage we call it the use of informationization stage. In this stage, the enterprise has already introduced the information system, and worked with it. We worked on finding the factors that will help the information system work well and studying how these factors influence the performance of the informationization.This article finds six factors that influence the informationization of the manufacture industry in our country in both stages. They are: commitment by top management; understanding of informationization goals; the way informationization expanse; the IT knowledge of the users; the obstacle from the old work pattern. In the initialization stage, if the top management attaches importance to the informationization, it will help the enterprise introduce information system more quickly. Meanwhile, selecting the proper information system, understanding of strategy goals, the users with lots of IT knowledge have significance on the informationizaiton. In the use of informationization stage, the commitment by top management is also important. Besides, the training of the users and changing the old pattern are also helpful to the informationization. This article could help to make the information system in the manufacture industry work well , and make the informationization develop rapid in our country.
