The Comparative Study Of Service Industry Competitiveness In Central Region's Provincial Capital Cities

With the increasingly accelerated pace of economic globalization, the percent of service sector in the proportion of GDP is growing, the focus of economic developing gradually changes from industrial economy to service economic. The rapid development of service industries has rised the service industry in the world economy's status and the growing role to serve and service trade as the main content of the rapid rise of the service economy has become the world's salient features of economic development. Service industry development status and the level of development is an important symbol of measuring a country and regional economic development.On the basis of the overview of previous research in the service sector's competitiveness, this paper systematically described the theoretical basis related to service competitiveness, and analyzed the factors affecting the service competitiveness. Then, we selected the provincial capital city of the middle region as the research object, respectively summed up the status quo of the middle region cities' service and analysized of the middle cities'service shortcomings. Then quantitatively assessed the service competitiveness of the capital cities in middle region:first, respectively from the economic strength, the overall service industry, major service industry conditions, technological capacity and the power of service competitiveness,these five aspects, we established a service industry competitiveness evaluation index system including 22 specific indicators; then, we made use of SPSS software to analysize the datas of middle region's capital cities'2002-2007 by overall principal component analysis, calculated for the service competitiveness scores of every city, and then, conducted static and dynamic comparative analysis.Finally, on the basis of the qualitative and quantitative comparative analysis we summarized the overall middle region's service development bottlenecks, and accordingly proposed countermeasures and proposals to enhance competition in service competitiveness.
