Research On The Urban Competitiveness Of Chengde City

Cities are involved in the complicated developing circumstance attributed to globalization and integration of the world economy. Which in return lead to two results:one aspect is that the status of cities is getting significance during the process of the national and regional economic day by day. And another aspect is that the competition among the rival cities is getting more and more intense. So in 21st century, promoting the competitiveness of the cities has become the most important part of the strategy of the economic development. Chengde city is recognized as a well-known state-listed historical cultural city in Bohai-rim economic circle. Based on this point, the competitiveness of Chengde city is a key point for constructing national tourist city. Taking all the above reasons into account, it is necessary to do some research focus on the competitiveness of Chengde city.My thesis attempts to build an assessment indicator system on the competitiveness of Chengde based on an analysis of competitive theories of cities in China and aboard; an analysis the original theories and models of those cities。Put forward a new concept of urban competitiveness. This paper argues that urban competitiveness is a city for people living in attractive, investors are keen edge on the market, radiation and certain regions, other cities as well as national and international influence on the result of a combination of the ultimate performance in achieving an urban a comprehensive, coordinated and sustainable development. combing the research of current status of development of Chengde. And also discuss the evaluation method. Especially in constructing the assessment indicator system, this thesis compared Chengde with other cities mainly form the following three aspects:the level of economics development, the level of social development and the level of ecological environment and tourism development. Based on this, this thesis gives a deep analysis on Chengde city competitiveness in the economic structure, industrial development, development approaches, public services, infrastructure, ecological environment, the problems and causes, especially on the existing problems and the reasons. In the evaluation analysis, first select the principal component analysis to Chengde with the province's six prefecture-level city in comparison, the six indicators and two indicators of three competing forces carried out a quantitative analysis and sorting. Finally come to Chengde city's comprehensive competitiveness of the selected sample of seven cities, ranking sixth, indicating that Chengde city less competitive. Meanwhile, dividing the seven cities using Q-mode Cluster Analysis, drew a comparison between the different level cities. Combining the two methods, this thesis found out the weakness of Chengde city in the aspect of the competitive development. Following main features, Irrational economic structure, industrial competitiveness is not strong; urban functions imperfect, poor infrastructure, low levels of public services; co-ordinating urban and rural development is not enough, the need to accelerate the process of urbanization; resources to exploit the advantages of not sufficient, tourism, industry, radiation force is not strong; eco-environment is not good, the ecological advantages of not fully utilized; innovation is not strong, urban management mechanism system is not perfect. Through quantitative analysis of the weak environment, which in all directions to clear the city of Chengde competitive realities.Based on analysis of the research on Chengde city's assessment indicator system, this thesis proposed the strategies and suggestions on promoting the competiveness of Chengde. Must be through the strengthening of industrial structure adjustment, change the mode of development, improve the level of opening up the development of low-carbon economy, to create an international tourist city, to protect and improve people's livelihood and strengthening urban management in seven key measures to improve the competitiveness of Chengde city. Only in this way, it can be accelerated Chengde to construct of famous international tourist city.
