Technological Innovation Search In Enterprise: Case Study Of 5 Chinese Passenger Vehicle Manufactures

This article first take a review of literature on technical innovation search, from four respects of theoretical origins, financial perspective, multi-dimensional perspective and search direction. Based on the review, the shortages of the former research are briefly described. And then combined with the characteristics of this study, the case study method is chosen in this research, taking the five typical Chinese passenger vehicle manufactures—Saic Motor, Faw Car, Chang'an Automobile, Tianjin Faw, and Chery Automobile as the studying cases, to analyze the factors that affect Chinese auto industry.Based on reference to the previous research, this study carried out case study on enterprise's technology innovation search from the perspective of product succession, arriving at the following main conclusions:1) As for a single enterprise, its technological innovation search intensity is basically consistent on the three levels of enterprise, domestic and international. For instance, if an enterprise has higher exploitive innovation search intensity on the level of enterprise, it probably also has relatively higher exploitive innovation search intensity on the other two levels.2) There is a causation relation and mutual promotion between enterprise's profitability and technological innovation search. Safe and stable financial environment is conducive to enterprise's technological innovation search, while market-oriented financial structure is more suitable for enterprise's technological innovation search than bank- oriented financial structure is.3) Positive internal factors, such as efforts on construction of independent research and development system, actively seizing of industrial developing direction and adapting to the national industrial policy, etc. are helpful to enterprise's technological innovation search.4) Preponderate external conditions like government resources are not sufficient or necessary conditions for technical innovation search, which may even have a negative impact, and therefore the rational use of these external resources is very important.
