Nowadays, ecological economic problems, mainly reflected in the conflicts between ecological and environmental protection and economic growth, have become unavoidable issues during regional economic development process. As the first minority sub-provincial administrative region established after the founding of People's Republic of China, Ganzi Tibetan Autonomous prefecture has one of the largest Tibetan settlements in China. It is also a protective area of great importance along the Yangzi River. Therefore, ensuring ecological and environmental protection serves to be the basic need for the economic and social development of Ganzi.Through a long-term period of reform and development, Ganzi has achieved some success in its economic development. However, problems still exist. In this thesis, the economic development process of Ganzi Tibetan Autonomous prefecture was reviewed at the beginning. By comparisons of a great many first-hand data, major problems of Ganzi's economic development was pointed out, mainly as increasingly serious conflicts between economic development and ecological and environmental protection, unbalanced economic structure with small total economic output, weak pillar industries with single economic growth point as well as large urban-rural income gaps. Then a solution was put up—an ecological economic development mode, which means making ecological agriculture the new development orient, ecological energy industry the basis and ecological tourism industry the focus. In the end, detailed development route for every ecological industry was studied in accordance with the analytical paradigm of'resource endowments- comparative advantages-development strategies'.
