Study On The Relationship Between Energy Consumption And Economic Growth In Hebei Province

Hebei Province's economic structure is emphasis on heavy manufacturing which is Energy-intensive, energy consumption structure dominated by coal, and there is also increasingly prominent contradiction between energy supply and demand, these factors severely restrict the sustainable development of the national economy in Hebei Province. The study on the energy consumption and economic growth in Hebei Province under the background of construction of coastal strong economy and Beijing, Tianjin and Hebei regional economic integration, had realistic significance for formulating energy development strategy, accelerating industrial structure adjustment and improving social economic sustainable development.This paper learn from researches on the relationship between energy consumption and economic growth at home and abroad, try to combine theory and practices to general analysis the current situation of energy consumption and economic growth based on there intrinsic association; analysis the trend contrastive and correlation change on energy consumption and economic growth in Hebei Province's status based on annual statistics of total energy consumption and economic growth from 1988 to 2008; study the Long-term equilibrium relationship and Short-term dynamic causal relationship between energy consumption and economic growth by use statistics and econometrics knowledge with Cointegration test, Granger causality test and Error correction model after data processing. The conclusion shows that there is a long-term Cointegration relationship and one-way Granger causality from energy consumption to economic growth. According to the results of analysis, combined with the practical problems of energy consumption and economic growth in Hebei Province, pertinently put forward some countermeasures and suggestions such as adjusting energy consumption structure, improving energy efficiency, optimizing and upgrading industrial structures , developing new energy industry, advocating green life , etc.Through the above research we can accurately grasp the overall energy consumption and economic growth situation in hebei province, provide the basis for coordinate the relationship between energy consumption and economic growth, also has certain directive significance for formulating corresponding energy management policy, energy development planning, industrial structure adjustment policy and economic development planning in Hebei Province.
