Outlook For Zhuhai's Petrochemicazl Industry

This essay reviews where the city of Zhuhai is and plans to be in its petrochemical industry development, analyzes its strengths and weaknesses, and puts forward suggestions on Zhuhai's petrochemical pursuit.The author starts from a brief introduction of the industry's characteristics, its role in national economy, and discusses issues worthy of attention in petrochemical industry development. The essay depicts the status of Zhuhai's petrochemical growth and the government's planning and policies about the development of the industry. Based on the industrial cluster theory, analysis is made to explore the strengths of the city in its petrochemical pursuit and it gives credit to what has been achieved and under planning. The author then explores the challenges Zhuhai faces and the impacts they may cause.In response to the challenges discussed, this essay proposes detailed steps for Zhuhai to enhance industrial competitiveness, human resource competitiveness, safety and environment protection performance, and optimize the development of industrial structure and the petrochemical industrial zone. It is concluded Zhuhai will grow a large petrochemical center in the future if the aforesaid issues are well addressed. The strategy is suggested that Zhuhai complete the midstream and downstream petrochemical series in the short term while preparing itself in industrial structure, petrochemical industrial zone development and infrastructure for the introduction of world-class petrochemical projects in the future.
