Research On The Development Of Industries Oriented New City Zone

Since the year 1990, in China, some metropolises urbanized rapidly, economic and social functions adjusted, urban distribution changed alone. In order to improve integral function of the town and to adjust its special structure, construction of the new town have been taken as an important strategy of town development.This thesis summarizes new town theory development and practices of new town construction from around the world, and brings forward the concept of New City Zone. On the basis of that, this thesis analyzes and proves the constructions of the industries leading zone. Contrasted with other zones, this king of zone have some advantages on economic, culture and society. This thesis focuses on the strategy of new town development of Nanjing Jiangning Dongshan New City Zone and the problems concerned.As a part of a metropolis, a new city zone is a town in its own sense, so it is vital to consummation of the regional town system. It is especially important to mitigation of population and industries from the center city (or major city) and to regulation of metropolis's spreading to its suburbs. Construction of new city must achieve certain size to realize the centralized effect and have its unique function in the metropolis.The new round of general city plan of Nanjing has decided to take a grad development form: center city---new town---center town---common town, and to complete construction of modernized town system by 2020.By comparing with the new towns from around the world, the thesis analyzes some problems of new city zone construction of Dongshan, such as the location, size, communications, development mode and relative policies, etc. It also put forward that the new city zone of Dongshan should perform certain functions as to mitigate the population and industries from the center city, facilitate consummation of the town system, take on some special regional ability and lead a new life style.This is a pilot study of Dongshan new city zone of the 21st century, and a reflection on the construction of new town.
